Members and Their Dependents
UFCW Local 648 Scholarship Program
UFCW Local 648 will award five (5) $1000.00 one-time scholarships to members and their dependents.
The program is open to students attending or planning to attend a college or university, a community college or trade school, and is a one-time award given to individual winners for undergraduate study beginning in the fall of 2017.
Rules and Regulations
The following rules and regulations are established so that each applicant may clearly understand the requirements that must be met to qualify for the competition and, if selected as an award winner, the conditions that must be met to secure release of the award payment.
Scholarships are limited to members who are in good standing since June 2016, or their unmarried children under 25. Only one winner per family.
Scholarship winners will receive a one time payment (by check) of $1000.00. Payment will be made upon evidence of enrollment in an accredited college or trade/technical school as a non-probationary full-time student. Scholarship winners ONLY will receive notification.
How do you apply?
- Read the Rules and Regulations thoroughly.
- Complete and mail the application, along with your typed or handwritten essay. It must be postmarked no later than July 31, 2017. The application must be mailed via regular mail, not email. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
- Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Write an essay of no more than 500 words (type or neatly print your essay) describing a significant impact Unions have had in the last fifty years and how you, your family and your community have benefited from it.

Each year the UFCW International Union awards several scholarships of up to $8,000 each to UFCW members or their dependents.
Union Plus Scholarship
