Your current contract expired June 30th, 2014
Mollie Stone’s members ratified their contract with a 65% “YES” vote
December 5, 2014
We met with the company following the rejection of the contract. The company did not move on any of our proposals as they already presented their last, best and final offer to us.
Furthermore, the UFCW International directed us to have our Executive Board vote to approve the contract as the membership did not vote the necessary threshold to authorize economic sanction against the company including a strike. Therefore, the Executive Board, took action and reluctantly approved the contract.
November 21, 2014
The contract was rejected by 54% of the membership who voted. The vote did not achieve the 66 2/3 vote necessary for strike authorization.
August 10, 2014
The Ratification Contract expires
August 7, 2014
Negotiations resumed this week between UFCW Locals 8 – Golden State, 5 and 648 and Save Mart’s negotiators.
Talks with Lucky-Save Mart were propelled forward by the presence and testimony of members from the stores discussing the impact of the company’s reclassifications from full time to part time status and wage reductions. Members described the effect of these changes on their work and personal lives. The impact that the loss of full time status and pursuant wage reductions has been disastrous and has led to bankruptcies, foreclosures and personal consequences that are beyond description.
Bargaining will continue through Thursday and will build on progress made in the most recent FoodMaxx talks and the momentum in Lucky-Save Mart talks created by the reality check provided by members from the stores.
Please continue to stay up to date at the website, the union’s social media options and the hotline.
July 11, 2014
Negotiators from UFCW 8-Golden State and UFCW Locals 5 and 648 met again with representatives of Lucky/Save Mart on July 9 and 10. Additional dates are set throughout the rest of the month and into August to discuss matters of concern for Union members at Lucky, Save Mart and FoodMaxx.
On Wednesday, the company made a modest increase to a proposal it presented on Monday regarding retiree buyouts. We are studying this proposal and considering its potential impact. The issue is far from settled and will continue to be discussed.
Also on Wednesday, the company discussed its plans for improving and modernizing its stores. The Unions let the company know that these plans were positive, but an ambitious investment in the company’s workers is also important. For this reason, the Unions are opposed to extending the Stabilization Agreement.
The Unions will keep you informed on developments through updates on UFCW 648’s website and social media.
In the meantime, keep demonstrating your solidarity by wearing your Union buttons and encouraging your co-workers to do the same. If you have questions or need Union buttons, contact your District Union Representative or your nearest UFCW office. Always remember….Solidarity Works!
